Brooke's Books

Hello Everyone! It's been quite a while since anyone has posted on here. Alisha and I tried to keep it going, but life happened and things got busy. Lately, I started thinking about this blog and how fun it was for everyone! We had all kinds of reviews and contests with people interacting with one another. It was a good community for those who loved to read. This is why I would like to announce that I have started up my own blog, Brooke's Books. It's not nearly as big as Alisha's website and it's just starting up, but I'm putting up a lot of the same kinds of reviews on my blog. So if any of you were missing the content on Alisha's blog, you should look up my blog here . I'll be announcing weekly releases (as I used to), book reviews, and other fun features I'm working on. I'm not sure if it will be the same as Black Nailed Reviews, but I think it will be a fun experience! I have missed writing and have missed all of you readers as well. I hope y...

Summary

For Nora Grey, romance was not part of the plan. She''s never been particularly attracted to the boys at her school, no matter how much her best friend, Vee, pushes them at her. Not until Patch came along. With his easy smile and eyes that seem to see inside her, Nora is drawn to him against her better judgment. But after a series of terrifying encounters, Nora''s not sure who to trust. Patch seems to be everywhere she is, and to know more about her than her closest friends. She can''t decide whether she should fall into his arms or run and hide. And when she tries to seek some answers, she finds herself near a truth that is way more unsettling than anything Patch makes her feel. For Nora is right in the middle of an ancient battle between the immortal and those that have fallen - and, when it comes to choosing sides, the wrong choice will cost her life! This title also contains an exclusive, original story written especially for this book by the author. This bonus story tells what happens to the characters between Book 1 and Book 2 of this series and will only be available in this book. Source

Review

Plot: This novel is more for the fans of the series, so I won't waste too much time on talking about the plot. However, I will mention that the story is not completed within one graphic novel but is just one part of the first novel. As far as the plot went, it was accurate to how the first installment played out. It did skip or leave out a few parts, however, it mostly did its job as to stay with the storyline.

Character(s): I'm not going to talk about each characters because they bothered me as a whole. Not the characters per say but how they were represented. I don't know where the ideas were coming from, but it looks like Becca had little say involved. For instance, why is Nora blonde and I thought Vee was shorter and, by how the book described her constantly, "chubby"? They pictured her as voluptuous, which is fine, but don't make it a recurring description about her in the books but make it different in the graphic novel. And, the clothing...I won't rant about that. However, Nora has no right to talk about Marcee with what she is wearing.

Cover: The cover was done well compared to the old one. The picture of Patch is sultry and dark which reminds me of the Hush, Hush series. I wish it conveyed the black, white and red theme the original books had, but this is good nonetheless.

Closing Thoughts: I gave this graphic novel a two out of four because I'm tired of them. At first, I was excited to see them for my favorite books, however they have been disappointments and this one is the same. It seems more to put something out and not thought through. The artistry is beautiful, but it wasn't accurate to the series. Plus, I don't understand the notion to "sex" the female characters up when the majority of the audience are females. There may be some male readers or even some female readers who want to see that. However, it just isn't that type of book and the wardrobe for some of the characters just was unnecessary or out of character, which ultimately took away from the story.

Where to find Becca and Jennyson:

Peace and Fangs,
Alisha
