Brooke's Books

Hello Everyone! It's been quite a while since anyone has posted on here. Alisha and I tried to keep it going, but life happened and things got busy. Lately, I started thinking about this blog and how fun it was for everyone! We had all kinds of reviews and contests with people interacting with one another. It was a good community for those who loved to read. This is why I would like to announce that I have started up my own blog, Brooke's Books. It's not nearly as big as Alisha's website and it's just starting up, but I'm putting up a lot of the same kinds of reviews on my blog. So if any of you were missing the content on Alisha's blog, you should look up my blog here . I'll be announcing weekly releases (as I used to), book reviews, and other fun features I'm working on. I'm not sure if it will be the same as Black Nailed Reviews, but I think it will be a fun experience! I have missed writing and have missed all of you readers as well. I hope y...

Summary

Evie finally has the normal life she’s always longed for. But she’s shocked to discover that being ordinary can be...kind of boring. Just when Evie starts to long for her days at the International Paranormal Containment Agency, she’s given a chance to work for them again. Desperate for a break from all the normalcy, she agrees.

But as one disastrous mission leads to another, Evie starts to wonder if she made the right choice. And when Evie’s faerie ex-boyfriend Reth appears with devastating revelations about her past, she discovers that there’s a battle brewing between the faerie courts that could throw the whole supernatural world into chaos. The prize in question? Evie herself.

So much for normal.

Review

Plot: Evie finds herself finally getting the normal life she always desired. School, a boyfriend, and normal human friends. Then as the days go on she realizes something. Normal's kind of boring. So when she's offered a job at IPCA again she gladly agrees. But she keeps it to herself because she knows that her amazing boyfriend, Lend, hates the idea. The plot is full of twists and turns and is definitely a page-turner! I read this in a matter of hours!
Character(s): Evie - I love Evie! Always have, always will. She is so independant and realistic. She is giddy and girly and hyper but then she's also a serious girl who knows what she needs to do. She loves pink and sparkles but she's not afraid to battle bad guys.
Lend- Lend is Lend. I mean, he's pretty much the perfect guy. I do have to admit that he can get a bit boring in this book, but I still love him just the same. That's why there's Reth and Lend to balance it out. He's pretty much the only normal and solid thing is these ever-changing books.
Jack- Okay this guy is hilarious. I never could picture him in any one way in my head because he was constantly changing! He is immature and hyper (he jumps on her bed many time). But then he's also smart and strategic. You never know what to think of him.
Cover: The cover's pretty basic. Through the series it's all basically the same with different colors. I don't hate it but it's nothing special.
Closing Thoughts: I'm giving this book a three out of four nail polishes. Honestly, if I could I'd probably give everything a four out of four but I know I can't. I did absolutely love this book. I mean this whole series is one of my favorites! The ending to this book is definitely one that makes you want to keep reading. And like I said before, I did read this in a matter of hours. I got a little behind on homework thanks to this. But so worth it!

Bookish Question: Reading Stats

How Many Books Do You Read? In a year, what is your set challenge? Do you even set a challenge? When you create an account on Goodreads every year it asks you if you want to set a "challenge" for yourself. How many books do you cant to read a year? Last year I challenged myself to read 80 books. I read 76. I think my initial intention was to read 75, but then I got cocky. The year before that I also challenged myself to read 75 books and read 76. 2011's Challenge... I dont even want to talk about it. The truth is every year I didn't have a game plan. I just read for the sake of reading. Because I love it, because I wanted to immerse myself in another person's world. This year is slightly different. I finished College, graduated, and got a part time job (finding a full time job is a pain in the butt). So I have the time. Most importantly, I have a plan.      Every week I try to read 3 books. I started this recently, since I got my part time job. With 26 weeks left ...
