Brooke's Books

Hello Everyone! It's been quite a while since anyone has posted on here. Alisha and I tried to keep it going, but life happened and things got busy. Lately, I started thinking about this blog and how fun it was for everyone! We had all kinds of reviews and contests with people interacting with one another. It was a good community for those who loved to read. This is why I would like to announce that I have started up my own blog, Brooke's Books. It's not nearly as big as Alisha's website and it's just starting up, but I'm putting up a lot of the same kinds of reviews on my blog. So if any of you were missing the content on Alisha's blog, you should look up my blog here . I'll be announcing weekly releases (as I used to), book reviews, and other fun features I'm working on. I'm not sure if it will be the same as Black Nailed Reviews, but I think it will be a fun experience! I have missed writing and have missed all of you readers as well. I hope y...

Summary
Rules Are Different Outside The Society

Chasing down an uncertain future, Cassia makes her way to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky--taken by the Society to his sure death--only to find that he has escaped into the majestic, but treacherous, canyons. On this wild frontier are glimmers of a different life and the enthralling promise of a rebellion. But even as Cassia sacrifices every thing to reunite with Ky, ingenious surprises from Xander may change the game once again.
Narrated from both Cassia's and Ky's point of view, this hotly anticipated sequel to Matched will take them both to the edge of Society, where nothing is as expected and crosses and double crosses make their path more twisted than ever.

Review
Plot: After Ky is taken away from her, Cassia ventures off to find him on her own. This book is in the point of view of both Ky and Cassia throughout the whole story. It seems as though right when Ky leaves somewhere, Cassia arrives, leaving her one step behind. This is very frustrating for both her and the reader. Throughout this book, it seems as though all they are doing is running. Running from the Society, running from the Enemy, and running for their lives. Only death awaits them if they are caught.

Characters: Cassia has always been a strong girl. A lot of the rebels and other kids looked down on her because she was raised in the society and therefor spoiled and weak. But that isn't the case. She is willing to do anything to find Ky and to save everyone by joining the rebels. She would go through any struggle or any challenge.
Ky is a strong character too. But in this book he seems more strong and less sensitive. Don't get me wrong- he wasn't very sensitive in Matched either. But in Crossed, it seems as though all his trials have made him colder. Though, that doesn't mean he loves Cassia any less. But in the end, you have to decide one thing. Is Ky really worth it?

Cover: I have always liked these covers. That's one of the main reasons I picked up the first one. I loved her green dress! But as the series progressed, I understood why she was in a bubble before. It wasn't for some cool cover- it was to show that she was trapped. Now in Crossed, she is breaking out of that bubble, slowly.

Closing Thoughts: All in all I like the plot line of all of this but in truth, it was really boring to read. The reason I'm giving it only two nail polish bottles was because it was so long and draw out and boring. It seemed like the only thing they were doing the whole time was running... and running... and yet more running. The only twists were at the end and to be honest they weren't that big of a surprise to me. I'm planning on reading the next one, but only in hopes that it was better than this. It sounds like the next one is worth reading because it isn't about running. Plus, there should be more romance i the next one, hopefully making up for the lack thereof in this one. A good read- especially if you want to continue on to the third- but it's pretty boring. Not a page turner.

Sweet Daydreams,
Brooke
